Affiliate Disclosure

KayakDIY is run by me, Justin Lammers. I make YouTube videos and write reviews about kayaks, motors, boats and the gear that goes with them. Here’s exactly how I make money from this site, so you can decide how much weight to give my recommendations.

The short version

Many links on KayakDIY are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer or brand may pay me a commission. It costs you nothing extra. Some links come with a discount code that actually saves you money.

Who I’m an affiliate with

That includes retailers and brands like EcoFishingShop, TBNation (AutoBoat), Bixpy, WattCycle, LiTime, Newport Vessels, AvantLink partner brands (like Boats2Go, BOTE and Sea Eagle) and the Amazon Associates program. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. You can see the full list, with my codes, on my Gear & Discount Codes page.

Products sent for review

Sometimes a company sends me a product to test. When that happens I say so in the review or video. Getting a product for free doesn’t buy a good review. If something has problems, I’ll tell you. I’ve told people to avoid products I owned and paid for.

How I keep it honest

  • Brands don’t approve or edit my reviews before they’re published.
  • I recommend the same thing whether or not there’s an affiliate link for it.
  • Affiliate links on this site are marked rel="sponsored" for search engines, and posts with affiliate links have a disclosure near the top.
  • Prices and codes change. I list the date I checked, but always confirm before you buy.

The shop on this site

The KayakDIY Shop is a catalog of gear I’ve reviewed or recommend. Most “buy” buttons there send you to the retailer that actually sells and ships the product, often through an affiliate link. KayakDIY doesn’t hold the inventory.
