Who the Oasis is for
This kayak is for two people who want to fish or cruise together. Couples who fish as a team, a parent and a kid, or two friends splitting the cost will love it. It suits bays, lakes, and coastal water. It also works solo: remove the front drive and it pedals fine with one person, though the 550-pound capacity begs to be filled. If you always fish with a partner, this beats buying two singles.
Stability: long, confident, and capable
The 33-inch beam and tri-hull design give the Oasis great stability for a tandem, plus outstanding speed and tracking. Two people can fish without the boat feeling twitchy. That said, the deck layout is not designed for stand-up fishing the way dedicated solo fishing kayaks are. The long hull handles chop and boat wakes calmly, and the Twist and Stow rudder keeps it tracking straight.
Vantage CT seats and comfort
The Vantage CT seats are among the best in the industry: fully adjustable with four-way support and great lumbar comfort. Both riders sit high and dry with good visibility. The ARC pedal cranks adjust with the push of a button to fit everyone from kids to tall adults. Pedaling two people all day is easy because the MirageDrive fins are efficient and the leg motion is smooth.
Storage and rigging
The Oasis is set up well for fishing for two. You get three Twist and Seal hatches, a large bow hatch, a rear cargo area with bungee tie-downs, four mesh stowage pockets, and two molded-in rod holders behind the rear seat. Two-piece paddles store on the hull, cup holders are built in, and there is a sail mount if you want to add Hobie’s sail kit. Fish finders are trickier since there is no built-in transducer scupper, so plan your mounting.

Pedal drive performance
The dual MirageDrive 180 units with Kick-Up Fins are the heart of this boat. Pedaling together, the Oasis is shockingly fast and efficient, and the Kick-Up Fins pop back on impact with shallow obstacles. Reverse engages with a simple pull. Steering can be done from either seat with dual controls. Solo, it still pedals well, just with less muscle. The tri-hull tracks straight and turns better than most 14-foot tandems.
Hobie’s fin drive also has a meaningful edge over the propeller-style pedal drives most other brands use, and it shows up in shallow water. A propeller typically sticks down a foot or slightly more below the hull and needs a foot of depth or more to spin freely — run skinny and you are either dragging it through the bottom or pulling the whole drive up. Hobie’s fins do not have that problem. They can lay almost flat against the underside of the hull and still flutter enough to keep you moving. You can pedal through water so shallow a propeller drive would be stuck in it.
Honest drawbacks
Hobie was bought out by Bass Pro Shops in 2026. There has been a period here in 2026 where parts have been scarce for pedal drives during the transition period. This has prevented many from purchasing. However, some dealers are starting to get parts in stock. Before purchasing in 2026 verify that you can find parts like replacement mirage drive fins. In 2027 we imagine parts will be much more accessible. We have spoken with the company on this topic. We are very confident in the brand.
Transport is the real issue. Fully rigged it is around 127 to 130 pounds, and 14 feet 6 inches needs a trailer or big truck. Two people can handle it, but solo loading is a workout. It is also a serious investment, priced like a premium tandem. Fishing gear mounting is limited out of the box: no gear tracks and no transducer scupper, so serious anglers will add rails themselves. And the deck is not a stand-up platform.
