HeyBike Tyson E-Bike Review: Towing a Boat and Hill Climbing
I customize the folding HeyBike Tyson e-bike and test it towing a boat, hauling fishing gear and climbing a steep parking garage.
What’s in this video
This e-bike had so many features I spent a week on it before I learned most of them. The HeyBike Tyson has a 750 watt motor and a 15 amp hour 48 volt battery, rated up to 28 mph and up to 55 miles. A 4 amp fast charger gets it full in about three to four hours, and it’s UL certified for fire safety, which was a big concern for us.
I rigged it with a crate with rod holders on the rear rack and hooked up a cheap kids trailer with a simple hitch. Then I towed a boat with it. I wouldn’t recommend that, but I had to test it. On a steep parking garage at 205 lb with a loaded bike and no pedaling, speed one did about 5.4 mph and speed five accelerated to 12 to 13 mph.
The 4G display runs on a cellular network, so it can alert your phone if the bike is tampered with, and you can track it. It has dual suspension, dual hydraulic disc brakes, a guarded derailleur, turn signals and a horn. It folds with two clamps and fits in the back of our vehicle. Best part: my daughter loves riding in the trailer, and she caught a fish on our trip.

- On a steep garage ramp with no pedaling, speed five pulled 12 to 13 mph with a 205 lb rider and a loaded rack.
