What’s in this video

Kaku builds kayaks that can handle inshore to offshore paddling. The Wahoo 12.5 has been popular, and this year they added the Wahoo 10.5. The Wahoo deck is open and makes standing easy, and the hull shape lets it ride over waves. The seat is ridiculously comfortable and puts you at a higher paddle angle, which helps paddling performance.

I also look at the Kahuna, a kayak and paddleboard hybrid. It has a wide open deck but still cuts through the water smooth like a kayak. After I made this video at ICAST 2017, Kaku also came out with the Voodoo Board.

Quick takeaways

  • The Wahoo comes in 12.5 and 10.5 lengths.
  • The open Wahoo deck makes standing easy, and the hull rides over waves.
  • The higher seat gives you a better paddle angle.
  • The Kahuna mixes a wide SUP style deck with kayak like tracking.
