Bonafide RS117 (Rise 117) Fishing Kayak: On the Water Test
I put the new Bonafide RS117 prototype on the water at ICAST 2018 and compare it to the SS127 and SS107 it shares hull lines with.
What’s in this video
At ICAST 2018 On The Water we tested all the Bonafide kayaks, including the new Rise 117 prototype (RS117). It shares similar hull lines with the SS127 and SS107. It paddles like a Bonafide and has the stability you’d expect. I found it easy and smooth to paddle.
The seat was comfortable for all day use, but a little less padded than the SS127. It was designed to compete with other $999 kayaks like the NuCanoe Flint (pricing at the time). It’s set up for a fish finder and it’s rudder ready. I’m told the production model adds a rear access hatch so it can take a Power-Pole anchor.
Quick takeaways
- The RS117 shares hull lines with the SS127 and SS107 and paddled easy and smooth.
- The seat is comfortable all day but a little less padded than the SS127.
- It's fish finder ready and rudder ready, and the production model is set to take a Power-Pole.
