FeelFree Overdrive Pedal System on the Lure 11.5: ICAST 2016
I checked out FeelFree's new Overdrive pedal and motor system mounted on a prototype Lure 11.5 angler kayak at the ICAST 2016 booth.
What’s in this video
At the FeelFree booth at ICAST 2016 I got a look at the new Overdrive pedal and motor system, shown on a Lure 11.5 angler kayak. The kayak looked great, but keep in mind this one was still a prototype.
Here’s what I found. The drive was a bit noisy because of straight cut gears, and FeelFree said they would refine that before release by going to spiral cut gears. It has an adjustable pitch prop and a high 20:1 gear ratio. Good engineering from their team, and I couldn’t wait to test one on the water.
Quick takeaways
- The Overdrive shown was a prototype with straight cut gears; FeelFree planned spiral cut gears for release to cut noise.
- It uses an adjustable pitch prop.
- The gear ratio is 20:1.
