Pelican Castaway 100 Mods: Bluetooth Lighting, Hatches and Outriggers
I mod my Pelican Castaway 100 with Bluetooth controlled LED lighting, a storage hatch and DIY outriggers, then show how it handles.
What’s in this video
The Pelican Castaway 100 has become my quick, last minute fishing kayak. It’s easy to carry and transport, and it cut through choppy water pretty well. I even use it for surf fishing to paddle out big cut baits for sharks. I start with a tour and some testing.
Then I install RGB lighting: IP68 rated 12v LEDs with a Bluetooth controller, so I can set solid colors or music beats from my phone. Next I add a storage hatch (I used 4 inch and 6 inch hatches from West Marine). Last, I build outriggers from PVC pipe and floats, and with them I felt very stable.
