Transporting Long Kayaks in a Short Bed Truck With a Bed Extender
I show the hitch mounted bed extender I use to haul long, heavy kayaks with a short bed truck, plus the straps and flag I use.
What’s in this video
Long kayaks and short bed trucks don’t mix well, so I use a bed extender that slides into the hitch. That lets me haul long, large, heavy kayaks without a full size bed.
My pick is the Boonedox T-Bone. I prefer that brand because it’s lightweight and all corrosion resistant aluminum. I also link an alternative extender, my favorite tie-down straps and a safety flag for long loads. Hopefully this helps you get your big kayak to the water easier.
Quick takeaways
- A hitch mounted bed extender supports long kayaks on a short bed truck.
- I prefer Boonedox because it's lightweight, corrosion resistant aluminum.
- Use solid tie-down straps and a safety flag on long loads.
