The Recon prop-drive version uses the same 35 in W-hull as the fin model, joined from two sections. The propeller drive pedals in a smooth cycling motion with instant reverse, and a skeg protects the prop. A flush-mounted rudder, reinforced rear trolling motor mount, deep battery box and navigation light mounts are built in.

Good to know
- Reverse helps when backing off structure or fighting fish, which is the main reason to pick this over the fin-drive Recon.
- Rinse the prop and drive with fresh water after salt trips and check the skeg for damage after shallow runs.
KayakDIY take: A modular hull with a reverse-capable prop drive covers a lot of fishing without needing a roof rack. For more options, see my best pedal kayaks guide.
