What’s in this video

I found this green crate with clear storage boxes in an aisle at Lowe’s and it screamed convert me into a kayak fishing crate. This is a how to on turning it into a crate with tackle storage and spots to hold a rod, net, camera or other gear.

I add pad eyes with tri grip rivets, tarp bungee tie downs, a Scotty track mount, RAM track mounts and Mighty Mounts. The crate measures about 40.6 x 26.7 x 23.8 cm outside. This build was first called the Kraken Crate, and I renamed it so it wouldn’t share a name with a Jackson Kayak product.

Quick takeaways

  • Outside dimensions are about 40.6 x 26.7 x 23.8 cm.
  • Pad eyes with tri grip rivets give you tie down points without bulky hardware.
  • Track mounts let you add rod holders, cameras or a net holder.
