Hobie Kayak Fishfinder Install: Lowrance Hook2 Setup Guide
I show how I install a Lowrance Hook2 fishfinder on a Hobie kayak, including wiring, display mounting and picking the right transducer adapter.
What’s in this video
Stock Hobie kayaks don’t come with Lowrance ready cover plates for the longer transducers on newer units like the Hook2 series. Here I show how I installed a Lowrance Hook2 5 and made it simple.
I run a 12v 9ah SLA battery in a battery holder, wire it with SAE cable cut in half, crimp the connectors and cover the wires with tubing. For the display, I used a Railblaza MiniPort on the H-rail with a rotating platform, drilled four holes and mounted the stock Hook2 mount. Then you just pick the adapter that matches your transducer.
Quick takeaways
- SplitShot transducers fit the stock Hobie cover plate with no adapter.
- TripleShot, TotalScan and StructureScan 3D each need their own adapter for the Hobie plate.
- A Railblaza MiniPort and rotating platform let you mount the stock Hook2 bracket on the H-rail.
