Homemade Bait Pen Build for My Dock and Saltwater Canal
I build a homemade saltwater bait pen for my dock so I can store the bait fish I catch until I go fishing.
What’s in this video
In this video I build a bait pen for my dock and saltwater canal. Basically any bait fish I catch can live in here until I go out fishing. I plan to keep mullet, pinfish, shrimp, ladyfish, goggle eyes and more.
The build uses a 55 gallon drum, an acrylic panel, bungee, a padeye, marine grade rope, nerf noodle floats and zip ties. For tools, all you need is a drill with assorted bits and a jigsaw with a fine tooth blade. It’s saltwater grade, and I expect it to outlast brands that use metal mesh.
Quick takeaways
- Supplies: 55 gallon drum, acrylic panel, bungee, padeye, marine grade rope, noodle floats and zip ties.
- Tools: a drill with assorted bits and a jigsaw with a fine tooth blade.
- Skipping metal mesh keeps it saltwater grade, so it should outlast mesh pens.
