How to Install a Mighty Mount and Backing Plate in a Kayak Hull
I show how to install a Mighty Mount and its backing plate on my Hobie Pro Angler 14 without being able to reach inside the hull.
What’s in this video
Backing plates are a pain when you can’t reach them inside the hull. In this one I show how to install a Mighty Mount, or really any backing plate, without that access. I’m putting it on my Hobie Pro Angler 14 as a stern mount for a light pole or a GoPro telescoping pole.
I seal it with Marine Goop. The same method works for other mounts where your hand can’t get to the inside of the hull.
Quick takeaways
- You can install a backing plate even when you can't reach inside the hull.
- Seal the mount with marine sealant like Marine Goop.
- A stern Mighty Mount works for a light pole or a telescoping camera pole.
