Kayak Camping the Ten Thousand Islands on the Florida Gulf
Six of us sail small crafts into the Gulf for a weekend of kayak camping in Florida's Ten Thousand Islands near the Everglades.
What’s in this video
This was a weekend camping trip in the SW Florida Gulf near the Everglades. Six of us sailed our smaller crafts into the Gulf: my 2017 Hobie Tandem Island plus my friends’ WindRiders and an Astus trimaran. I start with the kayaking and camping gear, then we explore sandbars and visit the Cape Romano domes.
The good, the bad and the ugly happened. On the way back we ended up getting towed back to shore, and we still had a blast. The trip was a learning experience and gave me ideas for future projects. I planned a part 2 to go over what we packed.

- Plan for things going wrong on a multi-day trip: we got towed back to shore.
