Remigo 3 HP Electric Outboard: Lightweight With Adjustable Shaft
I get my hands on the Remigo, the lightest 3 horsepower electric outboard I've seen, and learn why its adjustable shaft length is a big deal.
What’s in this video
This is the lightest 3 horsepower electric outboard I’ve seen so far. Peter from Remigo walked me through it, and the feature that got me is the shaft. With the tools in the box you can set it anywhere from 15 to 30 inches. One motor, every shaft length. No more ordering a long shaft for your boat.
The whole thing is 26 lb and I was holding it with one hand while filming. The tiller articulates so it doubles as a solid carry handle, and there’s a quick detach mount so you can leave the bracket on the boat and pop the motor off. The body is cast aluminum and feels built well. The magnetic key is both your power and your kill switch, there’s a power gauge, and they told me it’s waterproof down to 9 ft. It’s close to silent when it’s running.
For run time they quoted one hour at full speed, four hours at half, and about 15 hours trolling around 20%. That lines up with what I’ve found testing electric outboards: back off a little from full throttle and you get way more run time. A remote throttle was coming in a couple of months. They were selling direct to consumers, and the price at the time of the video was just under $3,000.
Quick takeaways
- The shaft adjusts from 15 to 30 inches with the included tools, so one motor fits a lot of boats.
- It weighs 26 lb as a single piece, light enough to grab and go.
- Quoted run times: 1 hour at full speed, 4 hours at half, about 15 hours trolling at 20%.
- Backing off from full throttle gives you far more run time without losing much speed.
