Guardian Angel Kayak Lights: Magnetic, Rechargeable and Wearable
At ICAST I check out the Guardian Angel wireless, magnetic kayak lighting system and all the ways you can mount or wear the lights.
What’s in this video
At ICAST I stopped by Guardian Angel Devices, and Chad McKellar walked me through their wireless magnetic rechargeable kayak lighting system. With one button you can run two lights at the same time. You can control brightness, there’s a top light, both sides can strobe, and you can run each side on its own. The remote control version was set to be available in early November.
The mounting is the part I liked. Each light has built-in rare earth magnets that grab onto matching magnetic mounts. There’s a peel-and-stick mount you can put anywhere on your boat, a suction cup mount, rail mounts for a bike or paddle, and a clip for a life vest or jacket. The Elite Series lights can also clip right through your clothing, so you get a hands-free 360 light on your body.
For the stern there’s a two foot pole that gives you a 360 rear nav light. It attaches with strong adhesive (or screws on a hard boat), and it folds all the way down for storage when you don’t need it.
Quick takeaways
- The lights use rare earth magnets, so one light can move between deck mounts, rail mounts and a life vest clip.
- The non-remote kayak kit comes with the same lights and mounts, just without the remote system.
- The two foot stern pole gives you a 360 rear light and folds down for storage.
