What’s in this video

At ICAST 2021 I stopped at the FeelFree booth, which is also the 3Waters, Jonny Boats and Seastream booth. They’re one family of four brands. My buddy Roland walked me through what’s new.

The 3Waters BigFish 103 has new colors and a new Easy 360 rotating seat that locks in place. It was a prototype, due in December 2021 for the 103 and 108, with a 105 and 120 version in the works. The ProFish pedal drive locks in with one lever, steering is the 8-ball rudder system, and there’s a new lumbar support and an Easy Rider seat upgrade for the 105 and 120, with a retrofit version for existing boats.

The Jonny Boats Bass 100 is built for motors and can even take a gas outboard. They have three Jonny pods, and the new e-pod uses remote steering. The battery fits inside the pod, and one hand runs propulsion and steering, almost a full 360. It was a prototype with no pricing yet.

The new FeelFree Flash is a recreational pedal kayak based on the Juntos, with the Easy Rider seat and the Rapid Drive from Seastream, and the drive floats if it comes out. It’s a little over 11 feet, 30 inches wide, about 70 pounds, with a 325 pound capacity and the wheel in the keel. MSRP was $1,599 at the time. The Seastream Angular 120 PD is about 12 feet, 35 inches wide, about 97 pounds, with a 400 pound capacity, at $1,649 at the time.

Quick takeaways

  • The FeelFree Flash is a recreational pedal kayak with a 325 pound capacity, so it's not meant for anglers hauling lots of gear.
  • The Jonny Boat e-pod keeps the battery in the pod and steers by remote, so the whole system comes off for storage.
  • The 3Waters ProFish drive drops in and locks with one lever.
  • The Seastream Angular 120 PD carries about 400 pounds at about 97 pounds.
