Custom Motorized Fishing Kayak Build on a Sun Dolphin Aruba
I share Roger's fast, floating water go-kart build made from a Walmart Sun Dolphin Aruba kayak and a trolling motor.
What’s in this video
This floating water go-kart build is fast, and I love the design. I was inspired after seeing Roger’s popular Facebook post, so I reached out and he got me some footage of the build. It starts with a Sun Dolphin Aruba kayak from Walmart and adds a trolling motor, steering wheel and helm kit.
He powered it with a 12v 100ah lithium battery. I also list the kind of parts that go into a build like this: battery box, Bimini top, hatches, anchor lock, fish finder and outrigger floats. One note: some places require kayak registration and specific safety gear once you add a motor, so check your local rules.
Quick takeaways
- The build starts with a Sun Dolphin Aruba kayak and a budget trolling motor.
- A steering wheel and helm kit turn it into a water go-kart.
- Roger ran it on a 12v 100ah lithium battery.
- Some areas require registration and specific safety equipment once you add a motor.
