Who This Kayak Is For
This is a paddler’s fishing kayak. If you like covering a few miles of river in a day, standing up to sight fish, and keeping your deck clean, the Shoalie fits. It suits creek and river anglers first, but the 450-pound capacity and open deck make it a solid lake boat too.
It is not a boat for pedal drive fans. The Shoalie is paddle only, though the stern is drilled for a Power-Pole and ready for a motor mount if you add one later.
Stability and On-Water Performance
The hull is the star. Crescent’s signature shape gives it real glide, so a long paddle back upstream does not wreck your shoulders. The design focuses on primary stability for standing, with extra hull volume that firms up the secondary stability when you lean.
The full, blunt bow rides over riffles instead of punching through them, and the shallow-draft keel keeps it tracking straight on flat water. At 77 pounds it is not light, but that is reasonable for a 12-foot rigged fishing kayak.
Comfort and Seating
The Specialized Fishing Seat is a framed seat with 2.5 inches of closed-cell foam padding, and it shifts between high and low positions. High is better for casting and standing up. Low drops your center of gravity when the wind picks up.
The seat fabric is made in Georgia and sewn in South Carolina, and the whole seat pulls out for transport. A center tie down and cam strap keep it locked in, which matters when you stand and shift weight around.
Storage and Rigging
This is where the “specialized” part shows. The front tankwell has two levels: small items up top, tackle and a battery below, plus internal rod storage with rod tubes. For the battery, I recommend the WattCycle 12V 100Ah mini LiFePO4 battery with Bluetooth — it runs most 12V trolling motors up to 55lb thrust plus a fish finder, and it’s compact and light. The rear tankwell fits a YakAttack BlackPak and has gear tracks, cam straps, and molded mounting points for a Power-Pole, Anchor Wizard, and landing gear.
A recessed aluminum track runs along the bow and doubles as a stand assist strap. You also get molded drill points for clean cable routing, tackle bungees beside the seat, cup holders, a transducer recess, and an EVA foam pad kit with an integrated measuring board. YakAttack GearTracs and rod holders come installed from the factory.

Honest Drawbacks
Seventy-seven pounds is a two-person lift onto a roof rack, or a cart job if you are solo. There is no pedal drive option, so if your arms give out on long days, this is not your boat. Some dealers run these on pre-order, so you may have to wait for one.
