The CAT396 uses a twin-hull catamaran layout that gives a steady ride and a wide stance for its length. It seats two adults and two kids and is rated for small outboards up to 5hp. It suits relaxed cruising and fishing on lakes and protected water.
Specs at a glance
- Length: 13 ft
- Capacity: 2 adults plus 2 children
- Max motor: 5hp outboard
- Hull: inflatable catamaran
Good to know
- Stay within the 5hp limit when choosing an outboard; a small electric motor also suits calm water.
- Check what is included with the retailer, such as oars and seats, before ordering.
KayakDIY take: For a family that wants a long, steady boat with a small motor, this layout is worth a look. For more options, see my inflatable boat reviews.
