What’s in this video

I left nursing to travel and fish, and to do that I need two things: internet anywhere and remote income. This Nomad Internet hotspot goes with me just about everywhere. Out on a friend’s boat by remote Gulf islands my phone showed SOS, but the Nomad got 179 Mbps. My phone in the same spot got 8, and the best I usually see from it is about 30.

The modem is the FX2000e by Inseego, with strong internal antennas, dual SIM slots and optional external antennas. A while back I would not have recommended this company, but I’ve researched current customers and they seem happy now. There are 100 and 200 Mbps plans, no contracts, you can pause billing, and a $19 a month upgrade (at the time) lets it work while moving. Compared to Starlink it’s much smaller and lighter, and it doesn’t need a big power source.

Then I go through how I earn income doing what I love: Amazon Associates (sign up with your normal shopping login), Etsy digital downloads, selling merch through Teespring, affiliate programs for brands I already use, a case study of a toilet repair video that made money, and using ChatGPT to create new income.

Quick takeaways

  • Where my phone showed SOS, the Nomad hotspot tested at 179 Mbps versus 8 Mbps on cellular.
  • A $19 a month add-on (at the time) lets the plan work while you're moving, like in a truck or camper.
  • Join Amazon Associates with your normal shopping login so you don't have to switch accounts to make links.
