What’s in this video

A lot of the islands I paddle to have coconut palms. If I pack this simple tool, I always have an easy way to stay hydrated. You tap the coconut and drink the electrolyte rich coconut water, or use it for mixed drinks.

The same tool also scrapes out the coconut meat. This is how we open coconuts to eat and drink in Florida. I also link a dedicated coconut meat scraper and the Cocodrill if you want other options.

Quick takeaways

  • Pack a coconut tool on island trips and you always have a way to stay hydrated.
  • The same tool taps the coconut and scrapes out the meat.
