Fun With an Old Craigslist Kayak: Testing a Cheap Hull at Speed
My brother and I have some fun with an old Craigslist kayak, pushing the hull to high speed and beating up our DIY camera pole.
What’s in this video
By far my easiest DIY. I picked up this kayak on Craigslist for under $100, and my brother and I had some fun with it. It turned into a good test of how a regular kayak hull handles high speed. My conclusion: this hull is terrible at 20 mph.
It was also a great test of our DIY camera pole, which took a lot of abuse and kept going. Please don’t try this at home.
Quick takeaways
- A basic recreational kayak hull handled very poorly at 20 mph.
- Our DIY camera pole held up to a lot of abuse.
