What’s in this video

BerleyPro is a company I’ve been a fan of for a long time, and the owner, Martin Giddens, is a good friend. At ICAST I went through their gear. Fishing in Florida, glare on your sonar screen is a real problem, so they make visors for Lowrance, Simrad and a wide range of units. They also make a bigger Hobie rudder with more blade surface area for better performance.

Their kayak cart is aluminum and stainless steel, which makes sense for a company based in Australia’s rough waters. Still rinse it. The axle is swappable for different wheels, so you can run the big balloon wheels for sand or move over wheels from a Railblazer C-Tug. My favorite part: the kickstand retracts on its own the moment you pull the strap, so no reaching under the kayak.

They also have the Bumper Bro, a molded keel protector that’s been proven for years, and the Sto Bro gunnel storage for pliers, lures and small Plano boxes.

But the real reason I made this video is the company itself. When COVID hit and I was working as a nurse, Martin supplied our entire hospital with protective equipment. When the hurricane flooded our house, he stepped up again. That’s the kind of company this is.

Quick takeaways

  • BerleyPro sonar visors cut glare and fit a wide range of units, including Lowrance and Simrad.
  • The cart's kickstand retracts automatically when you strap the kayak down.
  • The swappable axle lets you run balloon wheels for sand or reuse Railblazer C-Tug wheels.
  • The Bumper Bro molded keel protector saves your hull from shells, sand and rocks.
