Caught in a Storm 2 Miles Offshore in a Viking Reload Kayak
My friend borrowed my Viking Reload for a shark tooth dive in the Gulf, surfaced about 2 miles out, and found a storm rolling in.
What’s in this video
My friend DigDiveDiscover borrowed my Viking Reload kayak to scuba dive for megalodon shark teeth in the Gulf. He paddled almost 2 miles offshore, and when he came up from his dive a nasty storm had hit. This is his footage from riding it out, plus a quick review of the kayak afterward.
I didn’t ask him to review it and he wasn’t paid. I agree with him though. I think Viking kayaks are some of the most reliable offshore kayaks out there. I go through big waves and never get water in the hull, and all my gear stays in reach for fishing. I still told him to sit out Hurricane Dorian.
Quick takeaways
- I've never had water get into the hull of my Viking, even going through large waves.
- Check the weather before a long offshore paddle, because a storm can show up while you're under water.
