Plano V-Crate: A Kayak Fishing Milk Crate Alternative
I take a quick look at the Plano V-Crate, a tackle crate built to replace the classic milk crate in the back of a fishing kayak.
What’s in this video
This is a short look at the Plano V-Crate. It’s a V-shaped tackle crate that sits in the tank well where most of us run a milk crate. Each side holds two stowaway utility boxes, so you get four boxes total, and you can reach them from the side instead of digging from the top.
It has a side rail system for rod holders and other accessories (rod holders are not included) and a waterproof compartment in the base for valuables. The base attaches to the kayak, and the main unit pops off the base so it’s easy to carry or store.
Quick takeaways
- The V shape gives side access to the boxes, which helps if you have limited mobility.
- Rod holders are not included, so plan on adding your own to the side rails.
- The base footprint is about 12.5 in wide by 11 in long, roughly milk crate size, so check your tank well.
