An inflatable with a real pedal drive and a real fishing layout sounds like a gimmick until you see the iTrek Angler 10. It packs into a rolling bag, inflates in minutes, and runs the MirageDrive 180 with Kick-Up Fins and Turbo fins.

Who This Kayak Is For

This is for the angler with no garage, no roof rack, and no trailer. Apartment dwellers, RV travelers, and anyone who wants a pedal fishing kayak that lives in a closet will get it. It suits calm to moderate water: lakes, ponds, bays, and slow rivers. If you fish heavy cover, oyster bars, or rocky rivers full of sharp edges, a hard hull is still the safer call.

Stability

The 44-inch beam is wide for a 10-foot boat, and it shows. The drop-stitch floor inflates rock hard, so it feels far more rigid than a pool-toy inflatable. You can stand on the EVA deck pad in calm water, and the wide platform is forgiving when you lean to land a fish. The three-chamber construction adds safety: a single puncture does not sink you.

Comfort and Seat

The iTrek elevated seating is an aluminum-frame chair with breathable mono-mesh fabric and a cup holder. It sits you up high for casting visibility and keeps you off the wet floor. For an inflatable, the seating position is closer to a hard pedal kayak than you would expect. Long days are doable, though the seat is simpler than Hobie’s Vantage line.

Storage and Rigging

This is a proper fishing layout. Hobie H-Rails with integrated RAM Hand-Track run along the sides for mounting rod holders, a fish finder, or a camera. The rear cargo area with tie-downs swallows an H-Crate. The EVA deck pad has fish measuring lines built in. A 4-bolt mount at the stern accepts an electric motor or a Power-Pole. Three rudder and transducer mounting positions let you rig sonar without drilling.

Pedal Drive Performance

The MirageDrive 180 gives you forward and reverse with a pull of a handle, plus Turbo Kick-Up Fins that fold back on impact. In an inflatable, that is a big deal: you get hands-free propulsion with shallow-water forgiveness. The ambidextrous rudder steering can mount on either side of the seat. The boat tracks well for an inflatable, and 10 feet keeps it nimble around docks. Bring the included paddle for water too shallow for the fins.

Hobie’s fin drive also has a meaningful edge over the propeller-style pedal drives most other brands use, and it shows up in shallow water. A propeller typically sticks down a foot or slightly more below the hull and needs a foot of depth or more to spin freely — run skinny and you are either dragging it through the bottom or pulling the whole drive up. Hobie’s fins do not have that problem. They can lay almost flat against the underside of the hull and still flutter enough to keep you moving. You can pedal through water so shallow a propeller drive would be stuck in it.

Honest Drawbacks

Hobie was bought out by Bass Pro Shops in 2026. There has been a period here in 2026 where parts have been scarce for pedal drives during the transition period. This has prevented many from purchasing. However, some dealers are starting to get parts in stock. Before purchasing in 2026 verify that you can find parts like replacement mirage drive fins. In 2027 we imagine parts will be much more accessible. We have spoken with the company on this topic. We are very confident in the brand.

Setup is the tax you pay. Unpacking, inflating three chambers to pressure, installing the seat, drive, and rudder takes real time, plan on 15 to 25 minutes at first, faster with practice. At 49 lbs fully rigged it is light to carry but bulky in the bag. Wind pushes inflatables around more than hard hulls. And while the 550-denier PVC is tough, hooks, knives, and oyster shells demand more care than they would in a rotomolded boat. The price is full Hobie money for a boat you have to inflate.

Hobie Mirage iTrek Angler 10 Inflatable Fishing Kayak FAQ
