The Feelfree Lure II Tandem Overdrive V2 is the Swiss Army knife of tandem fishing kayaks. Paddle it, pedal it, or add the Motordrive for electric power. Fish it solo or tandem. Stand up, sit high, or sit low. At 14 feet 2 inches with a 500-pound capacity, it’s one of the most configurable fishing platforms on the water.

if one boat that does everything sounds good.

This package includes two Gravity Seats and one Overdrive pedal unit mounted in the rear cockpit.

Who This Kayak Is For

This is for the angler who wants options. Fish with a buddy on weekends and solo during the week? The Lure II does both. Want to pedal today and add electric power later? The Overdrive system is built for exactly that upgrade path.

It’s also great for bigger anglers and gear-heavy trips. The 36-inch wide hull and 500-pound capacity handle heavy loads without breaking a sweat.

The Overdrive System: How It Works

The Overdrive is Feelfree’s pedal unit with forward and reverse, built from cast aluminum with heavy-duty components. It drops into the rear cockpit with spring-loaded deployment assist, so getting it in and out is easy.

Here’s the clever part: the Overdrive is also Motordrive ready. Add the Motordrive unit later and you get pedal plus electric power in one system. One-hand steering control handles the rudder while you fish.

Important detail: only the rear rider pedals. The front cockpit has no drive. The rear angler handles propulsion and steering while the front angler fishes, works the electronics, or just enjoys the ride. Settle that before you launch so nobody argues.

Stability and Handling

The 36-inch wide hull with its tri-hull design is built for standing. Primary stability feels a little loose at first, which actually helps the boat roll over waves comfortably. Then the secondary stability locks in hard. You can lean it aggressively and it stays upright.

For a 14-foot tandem, it’s surprisingly nimble. It turns well and tracks decently, especially with the rudder down. Solo from the rear seat, it’s a big boat but very manageable thanks to the pedal drive.

Seats and Comfort

The two Gravity Seats are the best seats Feelfree makes. Multi-height adjustable with a simple lever, wide, and comfortable for all-day trips. Sit high for casting and visibility, or drop low for stability and pedaling efficiency.

Both cockpits have reinforced standing platforms with standing pads. The stand-up leashes give you something to grab when you stand. Everything about this boat says stand up and fish.

Storage and Rigging

Rigging options are extensive. Front, mid, and rear Uni-Track rails take rod holders, fish finders, cameras, and anything else without drilling. The removable sonar and electronics pod in the front cockpit makes fish finder installation clean, with the transducer mounted below.

The molded-in crate recess fits a standard milk crate perfectly. Rod holders with rod leashes, a front hatch, and a large rear tankwell with bungee handle the rest of your gear. The patented Wheel in the Keel helps you roll it to the water.

Honest Drawbacks

Weight is real. The hull is 105 pounds before seats and drive. This is a trailer boat for most people, or at minimum a two-person load. Solo car-topping is not realistic.

Only one pedal unit is included, so the front rider is a passenger, not a pedaler. If you want both people pedaling, this isn’t that boat. And the Motordrive and battery are separate purchases, so the full pedal-plus-power setup costs more than the base package. For the battery, I recommend the WattCycle 12V 100Ah mini LiFePO4 battery with Bluetoothit runs most 12V trolling motors up to 55lb thrust plus a fish finder, and it’s compact and light.

Feelfree Lure II Tandem Overdrive V2 Fishing Kayak FAQ

Can both riders pedal?

No. One Overdrive pedal unit is included and it sits in the rear cockpit. The rear rider pedals and steers while the front rider fishes or paddles.

Can I use it solo?

Yes. Run it from the rear seat where the drive and steering are. Removing the front seat opens up standing room and storage.

Is the electric Motordrive included?

No. The package includes the Overdrive pedal unit. The Motordrive and battery are separate purchases.

How heavy is it to transport?

The hull alone is 105 pounds. Most owners use a trailer. The wheel in the keel helps for the short roll to the water.
