ThrustMe Lightweight Electric Motor for Kayaks, SUPs and Dinghies
I look at the ThrustMe lightweight electric motors at ICAST, a quick on and off motor for kayaks and SUPs plus a small outboard kicker.
What’s in this video
At ICAST I found the ThrustMe booth. This is a lightweight motor made for kayaks, paddle boards and other small boats. On their paddle board setup the motor sits on an articulating arm, so you can position it close to the center line of the hull for the best forward push. The whole idea is quick on, quick off, and it packs into a nice bag.
They also have a kicker model. Same motor, about the same specs, but on a transom mount like a little outboard kicker. That one weighs about 10 pounds, and the paddle board version is around 7.7 pounds. That low weight is what stands out to me.
You might ask where the battery is. It’s built right into the frame. They have an external battery option coming that snaps on and gives you about another two and a half hours. Everything runs off a small remote. The on-water footage in this video is from the ThrustMe channel.
Quick takeaways
- The articulating arm lets you set the motor near the hull center line for better forward propulsion.
- The kicker version weighs about 10 pounds and the paddle board version about 7.7 pounds.
- The battery is built into the frame, with a snap-on external battery planned for about two and a half more hours.
