Who This Kayak Is For

This is for the small-water angler who wants big-boat technology. If you fish ponds, small lakes, rivers, backwaters, and tight cover, and you are tired of fighting wind with a paddle, the Mossa 97 gives you electric assist and GPS anchoring in a hull you can carry solo. It is also a strong pick for anglers with limited storage or a small vehicle.

Stability and Handling

Do not let the short length fool you. The hull is 40.5 inches wide, which is extremely wide for a 9-foot-7 kayak, and that width makes it a stable fishing platform you can stand on. It turns on a dime in tight cover thanks to cable-free 360-degree steering. The tradeoff of a short, wide hull is top speed and tracking on open water, but that is not what this boat is for.

The XPDL Drive System

This is the reason to buy the Mossa 97. Three drive modes cover every situation: manual pedal for quiet leg power, Sync Assist that adds electric torque to every pedal stroke like an e-bike, and full electric with powered reverse. Tap the seat-side Knob 360 controller and GPS SpotHold locks your position against wind and current. A single 48V battery delivers roughly 8 to 10 hours of sit-and-fish runtime, and the drive drops in and is ready in about a minute. Top speed in assist mode is around 5.3 mph.

Comfort and Storage

The seat is built for long days, and the compact layout keeps everything within reach. With 87 inches of wraparound track, you can rig rod holders, a camera, and accessories without cluttering the deck. The rear tankwell fits a crate or cooler, and the drive has 2.5 gallons of dry storage built in.

Honest Drawbacks

This is premium technology at a premium price, and the 400-pound capacity is the number to watch. The hull is 66 pounds, the drive is 29, and the battery is about 13, for 132 pounds fully rigged. That is manageable in pieces but not a featherweight package. The short hull also means limited storage compared to the bigger Mossa 128, and big open water with real chop is not its happy place. Finally, complex electronics mean more to maintain and more that can go wrong, so rinse after saltwater use and follow the care instructions.

VoyaX Mossa 97 Fishing Kayak FAQ

How long does the battery last?

The included 48V 15Ah battery delivers about 8 to 10 hours of sit-and-fish runtime, depending on assist level, conditions, and load.

What is GPS SpotHold?

It is VoyaX’s GPS anchoring feature. One tap of the controller holds the kayak’s position against wind and current while you fish.

Can you stand and fish from the Mossa 97?

Yes. The 40.5-inch beam makes this short hull a stable stand-up platform.

Is it good for big water?

Not really. It is purpose-built for small water: ponds, small lakes, rivers, backwaters, and tight cover. For coastal or big open water, the larger Mossa 128 is the better pick.
