I use iPhone for a lot on a MagSafe magnetic neck mount for POV shots. For everything else I love the X-series cameras by Insta360. These were done with X5, but soon I will upgrade to X6 Insta 360 camera.
I use the 9.8ft carbon fiber selfie stick with Insta360 camera to get drone like shots of kayaks.

Yeah 13×13 Yakattack blackpak seems more standard milk crate size. Personally I currently just use a cooler. I have divider in Rugged Road 65 can cooler. One side is for keeping food drink cool. The other side is for tackle, soft plastics, and misc.

Classic weathercocking, and you’ve got the cause right: short boats with lots of rocker get pushed around. Start with a skeg, not a rudder. Cheaper, simpler, no cables.
DIY: Easiest version: cut a skeg shape out of a $5 plastic cutting board, about 8 inches long and 3 inches deep. Bolt it through the keel line near the stern with stainless hardware and fender washers inside the hull, and seal the holes with marine sealant.
Purchase Option: tons of kayak rudders or skegs that flip up and down and mount in the stern. Don’t be afraid to drill into kayak. Just make sure to do so above the waterline. Some rudders and skegs come with a gudgeon mount. You mount that then the rudder or skeg drops in and a pin secures. This company makes gudgeon mounts

Good question. Kayak sails are a blast when the wind cooperates. Three things I’d check before buying: how it mounts (you want something you can drop in seconds when a gust hits), whether it makes your hull pull to one side, and parts availability, since small sail makers come and go.
If the price is right and the mount is solid, go for it. Sailing back to the launch instead of paddling into the wind is pure joy.

Hard agree on good quality leash. I usually use a leash for my fishing rods. I’ve noticed some of the cheap ones tangled up real bad but some of the nicer ones have a material that slides against each other and doesn’t not or entangled as easy.
For me, I would never buy again the Railblaza uniport track mounted camera boom! The uniport wouldn’t stay locked and I I nearly lost my camera at iCAST multiple times. I would buy another YakAttack camera boom mount with the locknload base because it works really well.I didn’t even know that they made suction cup camera mounts. That seems to be just begging for a disaster. Haha.

Absolutely! I think a good paddle is the #1 overlooked item when people buy a kayak. They spend all the money on a kayak and then buy the cheapest paddle possible which often destroys the experience. When you are swinging a paddle hundreds of times per mile you feel the regret of cheaping out on a paddle! Haha
