Tournament mornings are stressful enough without rigging a kayak in the dark. The Unlimited MAX Tournament Package is built for the angler who wants to roll up to the ramp with everything dialed in: a massive, motor-ready hull, a bow-mount trolling motor, and the storage and organization to fish a full event without chaos. This is the flagship of the NuCanoe lineup, and it fishes like it.

Who This Kayak Is For
This package is for the serious tournament angler or the hardcore weekend warrior who wants a boat that does it all. If you fish big lakes, run long distances between spots, and carry a pile of rods, graphs, and tackle, the UMAX was designed with you in mind. It is also a beast for hunters and anyone who needs to haul serious gear. Casual pond hoppers will find it to be more boat than they need.
Stability on the Water
At 13’6″ long with a 42-inch beam and a 750-pound max capacity, the UMAX is closer to a microskiff than a traditional kayak. Standing stability is outstanding. You can walk the deck, fight a fish, and lean into a cast without thinking twice. The 500-pound self-bailing capacity means the scuppers actually keep up when you are loaded heavy. In rough water, this hull stays planted and confidence-inspiring.
Seat and Comfort
The 360 Fusion Seat carries over from the standard Unlimited, and it is excellent. Full swivel, great support, and the freedom to face any direction. In a tournament setting, being able to spin to your crate, grab a different rod, and spin back without standing up saves time and energy across an eight-hour day. Comfort is a non-issue here.
Storage and Rigging
This is where the tournament package earns its name. The open deck is enormous, with dual 87-inch deck tracks, gunwale tracks, floor tracks, and stern tracks for mounting everything exactly where you want it. Horizontal rod tunnels, vertical rod stagers, flush rod holders, reel bays, tackle slots with cup holders, and a measuring board shelf keep tournament gear organized. The SternPod, GearPod-ready layout, and HD access ports make wiring electronics clean. The package bundles the motor, mount, and key accessories so you are not piecing it together yourself.
Motor and Drive Performance
The tournament package centers on a bow-mount trolling motor setup, typically a Minn Kota Terrova 55-pound thrust unit on a quick-release bracket. That gives you spot-lock style boat control, quiet repositioning, and hands-free fishing all day. The UMAX hull is rated up to 5 HP or 100 pounds of thrust, so it handles the power easily and still paddles fine if the battery dies. For the battery, I recommend the WattCycle 12V 100Ah mini LiFePO4 battery with Bluetoothit runs most 12V trolling motors up to 55lb thrust plus a fish finder, and it’s compact and light. Foot steering and throttle control keep your hands on the rod where they belong.
Honest Drawbacks
This is a big, heavy, premium rig. The hull is around 100 pounds before the seat, motor, and battery, so you are trailering it, period. The price reflects the flagship status plus the motor and accessories, so it is a serious investment. And in many states, a motorized kayak must be registered, which adds paperwork. If you fish small water, all this capability is overkill.
