CAJO Fishing Kayaks: Every Model Compared

Outpost and Terra Pro Series hard kayaks and the Highlander AirTrek inflatables, all built around the Traverse pedal drive option.

CAJO at a glance

CAJO is one of the newer fishing kayak brands on KayakDIY, and I have not had one on the water yet, so I am not going to pretend otherwise. What I can do is lay the whole lineup out side by side from CAJO’s published specs so you can see how the boats compare, and point you to the kayaks I have tested that compete with them.

The common thread is the Traverse pedal drive, a 10:1 propeller drive that is either included or available as a kit, plus a choice of fin drive mounts. The Pro Series hard kayaks add power plates for clean wiring and mounts for 12 in transducers. The Highlander AirTrek boats are welded drop-stitch inflatables that ship with a seat, a convertible paddle, a pump and a rolling travel bag.

How to read this page: specs come from CAJO’s published numbers on each product page. I will add my own notes when I test one. For pedal kayaks I have tested, see the Hobie, Old Town and Saturn guides.

Which CAJO fits you?

  • Stand-up fishing on a rigid hull: the Terra 116, the stand-up hull in the Pro Series.
  • Compact pedal kayak: the Outpost 100 at 55 lb for the hull.
  • More room and rod storage: the Outpost 128, rated for 500 lb.
  • No room for a hard kayak: a Highlander AirTrek inflatable.
  • Two people in an inflatable: the Highlander 140T tandem.
