Railblaza Kayak Mounts: The Complete Guide

StarPort, MiniPort and TracMount bases, rod holders, fish finder and camera mounts, the C-Tug cart and more. The mounts I have installed on kayaks for years.

Why Railblaza is all over my kayaks

Railblaza mounts are one of the easiest ways to turn a recreational kayak into a fishing kayak. I have installed a Railblaza rod holder on a StarPort mount, put StarPorts and a TracPort Dash on my Viking Profish Reload when I modded its pod with a trolling motor, used a MiniPort on the H-rail of my Hobie for a Lowrance Hook2, added a RibPort to an inflatable paddle board, and modified the Railblaza camera boom for my 360 camera. I even built a cheap PVC camera pole that plugs into Railblaza mounts.

When I bought a $60 Sun Dolphin to rent to vacationers, a Railblaza mount is how I added a rod holder for under $100 total. You can run the mount stacked, or split it and use one piece as a backing plate inside the kayak for a very rigid mount.

How the Railblaza system works

  • Bases go on the kayak: a StarPort, MiniPort or TracMount base, or a TracLoader in your existing track.
  • Accessories plug into the base: rod holders, fish finder mounts, camera booms and drink holders all lock into the same bases, so you can move them around.
  • Tip from my installs: split the mount and use it as your drill template, drill with a 1/4 in bit, and put the washers on before the nuts inside the hull.

What is a Railblaza StarPort?

It is a base you mount on your kayak. Railblaza rod holders, fish finder mounts, cameras and other accessories plug into it and can be swapped or moved.

Can I add Railblaza mounts to a cheap kayak?

Yes. I added a rod holder to a $60 Sun Dolphin with a Railblaza mount for under $100 total. Split the mount to use as a drill template and as a backing plate.

Do Railblaza mounts work with track?
